Tracey and Nick

Tracey and Nick were married in a beautiful river side ceremony. Loved how fun this group was. They kept the dance floor packed!

and really... the only thing better than a man in a uniform is lots of men in uniforms.

Thank you guys so much! Was such an honor and privilege to be a part of your day!

Julia and Nate

This family holds a special place in my heart.  I photographed little sister Amanda's wedding a few years ago (where Julia brought Nathan as a date shortly after they had begun dating)  and a couple years later, after Nate proposed and they set a date Julia sent me an email and told me "it wouldn't be a Whitley wedding without you" thanks girl- made my year to get to work with this family again.

Julia sends Nate a note (which we got to deliver) there's some sweet things involved in being a wedding photographer.

little pre ceremony sneak peek in the church courtyard.

One of my favorite grooms- Amanda's husband Mark.

The always beautiful Edenton St Methodist Church.

Photo booth fun!

Amanda is a product designer and she was kind enough to bring one of her designs to soothe some dance floor feet.

and this goes by when you get married the last weekend in October.

thank you all so much for letting me be a part of this day.

I'm a little sad that there's not one more Whitley wedding to be a part of.

A toast from a special family item.  A gift given to Bill's parents on their wedding day from family friend Mr. Rogers.  Yes. That. Mr. Rogers.  I felt like I was in the presence of something sacred.

Thank you guys so much for letting me be a part of this gorgeous day!!! You guys are the best!

Happy marriage!

Courtney and Brandon

Courtney and Brandon were married at the gorgeous gardens on Millbrook on October 5. Loved this sweet southern wedding.

and since Brandon is a police officer and many of the guests were too, I might have some dance floor photos that may help me get out of a ticket someday. Just might.

This group loved to get down and I sure did love being a part of it.

Thank you guys so much for letting me be a part of this day!

Love you all so much!!!

Tracy and Ryan

Tracy and Ryan were married in a lovely and laid back river side ceremony at the Fort Fisher Recreation Area.

Ryan is a SUPER talented musician and he sang his bride down the isle.  You can check out those chops here.

Their families brought sand from their respective hometowns. Which included Oahu, British Columbia, and of course, the NC coast.  So sweet.

Love this shot of the bridesmaids getting Tracy bustled.

They had a ton of guest singers on hand to entertain at the reception.

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your sweet little seaside ceremony.  Love you guys!

Kate and Charles

Twelve months ago I didn't even know who this couple was. Two weeks ago I photographed their wedding.

In the time between that they bought the house across the street from us and have become such a wonderful gift in our lives and some of our very favorite people.
and since Ernie spends a lot of his time working out of town these days I appreciate seeing their light on when I get home late from work.  It makes me feel not so alone knowing they're just across the street.
So thank you dear sweet neighbors for letting me be a part of this day.  (and then for letting me quit and eat friend chicken and drink bourbon!)
I am so so so thankful to have you across the street.  Nothing like some backyard beers with some great friends.

and the nice thing about being across the street is that it's easy to walk on over for a day after brunch.

I totally gave this cat that muffin.

Hilary and Andy

Super excited to share with you Hilary and Andy's downtown Raleigh wedding.  Had so much fun spending my day with this awesome group.

I imagine this is what it's like to dress a 3 year old every day.

Love this sweet sister picture.

The wedding also happened to be the same weekend as Hopscotch so we snagged a couple shots among the crowd.

Thank you a million times over for letting me be a part of this amazing day.  Love to you guys!!!

Keli and Mike

Keli and Mike were married in a beautiful ceremony in the Rose Garden here in Raleigh followed by a reception at the History Museum downtown (that culminated in a pretty epic dance party).

Sweetest little flower girl ever.

Keli and Mike met on a pool team so we had to take a little pre reception detour to shoot some pool.  Love when my couples throw creative things out there like that.

We need to talk

I don't think we've ever had a conversation about these sweet little albums I offer.  I think we should.  Why?  Cause they are so pretty, so sweet, so simple and so affordable. My brides are a little modern and they like simple elegance.  My KISS  books don't disappoint.

They come in tons of beautiful colors and you have the option of leather and linen.

How big of a KISS do you want?

There’s the cuter-than-kittens Little KISSes, coming in at a petite 4x4. The 8x8s make for great parent books. The 10x10 is perfect for any occasion. And, if you want big impact, you go 12x12. Opened, the 24x12" prints will feature your wedding spectacularly.

Don’t miss a thing.

Our pages lay beautifully flat, so you don’t lose any of the image in an unsightly fold. Each spread can be presented in all of its glory due to our modern binding and block-building processes.

and of course...Each KISS Book is delivered with its very own swank, sexy, cloth dust-covers.

Julie and Jason

I admit I've been hibernating over here, but the wedding bookings are creeping in and I am getting super excited about the way 2013 is shaping up. While in my winter hibernation my dear sweet sister got married in a quiet, mid week ceremony on top of a winter mountain.  It was perfect.  She rented out every room at the Gideon Ridge Inn  and we had the run of the place.  What a glorious place!  Each morning I woke up in a king size bed next to a roaring fire before meeting my nearest and dearest around the breakfast table.  It could not have been more perfect.

Playing a little music around the fire and the Christmas tree in the living room the night before the wedding.

The breakfast element of this bed and breakfast.

The view from the breakfast table.  (and the view from pretty much everywhere at the Inn.  Be still my heart.

Julie brought in a make up artist and a hair stylist so the ladies could get their glamour on.  They were awesome and I felt like a diva!

Julie made Jason the most beautiful photo book that covered the entirety of their relationship.  It was really stunning.  He opened it before the wedding.  She's watching a video of him go through it. So so so sweet.

Jaime is impressed with how well these ladies clean up!

Jason's momma.

A lot of time was spent around the HUGE fireplace in the living room on these big comfy leather couches. Lots of catching up happened here.

Julie and Anna, her best friend since 6th grade.

Just because I have spent a lifetime on the receiving end of this face.

Instead of gifts the couple asked for ornaments.  They received some really sweet ones.  I had their favorite photo turned into an ornament, Mom had the details of their day, including the bible verse read in scripted on a glass ornament. One of the sweetest was the one their friends Abe and Kathy gave them that Kathy's great grandmother made 100 years ago.  Very beautiful.

What you don't see of this day is the mountain top ceremony and the amazing 5 course dinner we all sat down to.  Sometimes I just have to put my camera down and be present in the moment.  (don't worry, there's sweet photos of these events taken by another photographer)

Happy marriage to my dear sweet sister and her husband Jason.  Can not think of a more perfect day for the two of you.  Was such an honor to share it with you.

Henry

Baby Henry hopes you're enjoying your holiday season. I know I am.  (when I come up for air)

Now, I am off to my sisters sweet little Wednesday wedding in a beautiful bed and breakfast in the mountains.  It will be glorious.

(seriously though, no more trips after this one, I am totally looking forward to an uneventful and quiet winter at home)

I photographed Henry in a belly, Henry as a newborn and now Henry for his holiday card.  Love this little guy so.  That's the best part about this gig- I meet new people and make new friends.

Melissa and Jeremy

Jeremy took a chance on a good girl. A good girl who is smart, funny, down to earth and can drink a beer.  (I hear she even likes football)

and not to mention she's a little bit stunning.

I'm gonna go ahead and call that a total package.

Melissa and Jeremy were married in a sparkly evening cocktail party with a wedding tossed in.  The Cotton Room in Durham did not disappoint as a stellar back drop for this beautiful wedding.

Got to love arriving at a wedding to find all the ladies sitting around sipping champagne and watching an NCSU game.  (that's all I had to see to know that these were my kind of people)  NC State!!!!!

the shoes deserve their own blog post.

Just a little refresher before a walk down an isle.

Thank you guys a million times over.  I totally loved being a part of this amazing day.  You guys are so golden.

and Jeremy- you ain't so bad yourself.  You might just deserve that total package.

Love you guys!

Mike and Nicky

I've known Mike and Nikki since they were high school sweethearts. (say it with me, awwwww) So it was SUPER fun to get to spend an afternoon with them and to meet their beautiful little girls.  We reminisced about the good ole days and got all caught up with each others lives.  It seems like no time has passed but the days of rock and roll and all nighters are long gone and have been replaced with lullabies and falling asleep on the couch before 10pm.

When did we get so old?

man, I love those sweet little red curls.

Coda wants to see what's in the camera.  Love it.  She is a total ham and one of the absolute most fun little ones I have ever photographed.

Loved meeting these charming little girls.

Thank you guys so much for letting me snap a few of your beautiful family!

Emily and Nick

In my month of gratitude I am oh so thankful for the people that continue to support me.  I photographed Emily and Nick's Charleston wedding 2 years ago (almost exactly, Happy Anniversary guys!!) and had the pleasure of photographing their new little one as they were passing through town on the way to a wedding.

Emily is an Interior Designer in Washington DC.  I felt the need to point this out so you will pay attention to how awesomely coordinated this family is.

and just for fun... Happy Anniversary guys!

Month of gratitude

Second post in my month of gratitude. I came across this photo tonight while editing a session of a sweet little family.  Of course I thought of my own awesome momma- 30 years ago she held my tiny little hands just like this.  All day, everyday.  And she did until I thought I out grew it.

but sometimes, even at 30, I still kind of miss it.

but these days I won't make my Mom hold my hand, but I don't ever take it for granted that she's always a phone call away.

and I hope that throughout her tough year I've been able to return the favor even a little by holding a hand and always being a phone call away.
